Experience Day at Monash Art, Design and Architecture
If you're a Year 10-12 student thinking about studying design or architecture, we have the perfect school holiday activity day for you this July.
We'll be running two workshops for each area; once in the morning (10am –12.30pm) and again in the afternoon (1pm –3.30pm). So you if you can't choose which one you'd like to do, why not do both?
Make possible - Design
Building on our successful “Make Transformational” session in March, this workshop will give you a sample of the design approach unique to Monash. You'll participate in a design making activity that demonstrates the transformative potential of design solutions that intersect design thinking with new technologies. There is no pre-required design knowledge to participate - just join us on the day and find out what makes design such an exciting field!
Hands on Architecture Studio
Explore our facilities and discover how to put architectural ideas to work in this hands-on studio workshop. Experience first-hand what it's like to be an architecture student putting ideas to work in the world. In this session, you'll:
- learn about the studio environment and approach
- meet our academic staff
- work on a real life project and sites.
The Department of Design at Monash University is home to four exciting design degree programs: the Bachelor of Communication Design, the Bachelor of Industrial Design, the Bachelor of Spatial Design, and the Bachelor of Collaborative Design. Design has global impact. It aids our journey through life; helps us communicate; builds communities, addresses complex challenges, and in doing so, projects us forward into new and exciting futures. The design degrees we offer empower their cohorts with the knowledge and skills to make significant contributions to the world through design thinking, design making, and design technologies.
Combine your creative vision and technical expertise to shape the future of society, through great design in the built environment. You’ll learn to think beyond the building to create inspiring and sustainable solutions that transform the way we live, and spaces, places, and communities that improve our quality of life. The Bachelor of Architectural Design is the first step on the journey to becoming an architect, and forms part of a five‐year specialist degree with the Master of Architecture. Graduates from Monash have gone on to work in private practices and for government, as urban designers, planning consultants, policy advisors, project managers, town planners, and more.
