Researchers from Monash Art, Design and Architecture establish the Urban Transformation Network

Researchers at Monash Art, Design and Architecture have signed a memorandum of understanding with Monash Indonesia and Monash Malaysia to collaborate and establish the Urban Transformation Network (UTN).

Led by Professor Diego Ramirez and Professor Tony Wong (Monash Art, Design and Architecture), Professor Stephen Cairns (Monash Indonesia), and Associate Professor Stephen Chow Ming Fai (Monash Malaysia), UTN is a pioneering cross-campus network that aims to nurture and grow collaboration, engagement, and research that is focussed on the global challenges of climate adaptation and thriving communities.

In one of the first cross-campus agreements, Dr Tanvi Maheshwari has received one of two Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research (DVCR) Bolster grants, part of Monash University's Incubator funding for Impact 2030 mission-based research. This funding will activate Urban Transformation Hubs in each of the three campuses through workshops, networking, public seminars and lectures across the campuses, and harness and mobilise our regional research and expertise to position Monash as the strategic partner of choice in addressing the specific challenges faced by cities and towns in the region.
