The Monash Psychedelic Education Program has been launched!
Psychedelic science has re-emerged as one of the most impactful frontiers in scientific research, challenging and expanding our understanding of the brain, mental health, and the nature of conscious awareness. This new university education program offers students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in this field at either undergraduate or postgraduate levels. Whether students are new to psychedelic science and therapies, or seek to deepen their insight and expertise, the program’s multidisciplinary, expert-delivered content will provide an engaging and reputable tour of the foundations and emerging areas within this field.
Interest in psychedelic science and therapies has burgeoned globally over the past years, with growing demand for well-informed and highly-skilled practitioners and researchers, and the need for improved psychedelic literacy in the community generally. Our education programs are designed to meet this need. At the forefront of psychedelic research and education in Australia, the Clinical Psychedelic Lab is bringing together world-leading educators, researchers, practitioners, and people with lived experience to deliver engaging and informative psychedelic education, open to students from across the world. Live and asynchronous learning options are available. Advanced training in psychedelic therapies is planned for roll out in 2026 at Monash University, with these initial courses (see below, one in psychedelic science and one in psychedelic therapies, at either postgraduate or undergraduate levels) as prerequisites and credit for the planned Graduate Certificate in Psychedelic Therapies.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SHORT COURSES AND POSTGRADUATE MICROCREDENTIALS
Psychedelic Science: Fundamentals to Frontiers
This postgraduate-level short course is a masterclass series exploring psychedelic science from multidisciplinary perspectives. It is designed to be engaging for newcomers and experienced professionals alike. Delivered by world-leading educators, this course delves into historical and indigenous contexts of psychedelic use, the modern resurgence of interest in psychedelic treatments, psychopharmacology, phenomenology, clinical research methods and findings, ethical considerations, pivotal debates, and future directions. Participants will explore areas of specific interest through tailored assignments. Through a combination of live sessions and flexible asynchronous learning, students will gain a robust, evidence-based understanding of psychedelic science, equipping them for advanced studies in this dynamic and rapidly expanding field. No prior knowledge is required, and yet even those already working in the field will increase their proficiency and gain fresh insights.

Foundations of Psychedelic Therapies
This postgraduate-level short course is a masterclass series that explores one of the most innovative and promising areas of mental health treatment: psychedelic therapies. Psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT) integrates psychoactive compounds such as psilocybin and MDMA with psychotherapy to address conditions like depression, PTSD, and addiction. Delivered by leading experts, the course covers essential topics, including clinical research methods and findings, therapeutic approaches, key therapist competencies, case studies, participant experiences in clinical trials, the challenges of stigma and hype surrounding the field, safety monitoring and screening protocols, and the unique ethical considerations of PAT. With flexible learning options, this program is designed both for those completely new to the field (no prior knowledge required) or seasoned professionals seeking to expand their expertise in clinical psychedelics.
