RAISE
Risk Assessment for moving Individuals SafEly (RAISE) - optimising staff and patient safety
The RAIL Research Centre has been awarded a $1.44 million NHMRC Partnership Project grant (2025–29) to improve safety for staff, patients, and residents during assisted movement in hospitals and aged care. Partner organisations include La Trobe University, Cabrini, Eastern Health, Monash Health, and St. Vincent’s Health. The RAISE program embeds dynamic risk assessment into manual handling training, which is currently missing from most training programs in Australia. RAISE combines a 4‑hour workshop, bedside mentoring, and cultural change support. The project will adapt, trial, and expand RAISE across our four partnering Victorian health and aged care services.
