What is ECMO PAL?
ECMO PAL is a deep neural-network artificial intelligence (AI) model that predicts survival outcomes for VA-ECMO patients. ECMO PAL uses only pre-ECMO variables to make a prediction about patient survival to discharge. The more data you enter, the more accurate the prediction will be.
ECMO PAL provides a survival prediction as a continuous percentage and uses SHAPLEY explainers to give some context around the factors contributing to the prediction. This ECMO PAL tool is the first in a planned range of AI-powered tools for ECMO prognostication.
