Research projects
MonREN exist to increase primary care research. We work in a bottom-up approach, hoping to not only distribute research projects out to our general practice members, but to have those who work in primary care directing and being actively involved in research projects and directives.
We encourage all GPs, Practice Nurses, and Practice Managers to take part in research as it is integral to general practice development and improving community health.
Below are current research opportunities seeking primary care input.
INSPIRE Project: Improving Identification and Response to Reproductive Coercion in General Practice
The INSPIRE Project is a cross-sectional survey. This project is funded by TROPHI and aims to better understand and address reproductive coercion within general practice settings. By gathering data on the prevalence and correlates of reproductive coercion, we hope to inform sensitive screening practices and evidence-based interventions that support patient care. We are currently seeking general practice clinics in local government areas Knox, Maroondah, and Yarra Ranges to participate in this research. Participating clinics will receive support and resources, as well as $500 reimbursement for their involvement.
Research opportunity for GPs working in aged care
Are you a GP currently working in an aged care facility? Do you provide palliative or end-of-life care services? If yes, we would like to talk with you about your experience! This research study is looking to explore the experience of GPs delivering quality aged care services within residential aged care facilities, particularly the provision of palliative and end-of life care. Obtaining this information from GPs is crucial in highlighting an increasingly important aspect of our primary care service delivery for Australia’s ageing population.
CREATE
CREATE is a RACGP-supported study exploring ways to improve hospital-based training for future GPs. CREATE aims to optimise general practice training at two critical times: in-hospital experience and the transition to the first GP term. If you are a: junior hospital doctor aiming to work as a GP, current GP registrar, GP supervisor, GP educator, or a Practice Manager — please consider taking part in either a 1-to-1 interview or a group forum. Interview and forum timings are flexible around your schedule!
CONSEP RCT
A GP-led team is testing whether a tweak to clinical software makes it easier to diagnose Primary Aldosteronism (or Conn's Syndrome). Conn Syndrome (Primary Aldosteronism) causes one in every seven cases of hypertension — once found, it makes hypertension far easier to treat.
