Evaluation of Mentorship
Evaluation of mentorship in international research ethics training schemes
This research is being carried out with Professor Sana Loue from Case Western University in the United States on the basis of a supplementary grant from the NIH. Model and process of mentoring may be critical to successful career trajectory. Many mentoring models exist, e.g. traditional dyadic model, e-mentoring, and peer mentoring. The literature suggests that women and mentees from “minority” groups are more likely to benefit from mentoring models other than traditional dyadic model. Relatively little research exists with respect to international mentees whose needs may be quite distinct. This research investigates the models, process, and theoretical underpinnings of mentoring in past and current programmes that have received National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding for training in international research ethics.
