Digital Research Capability Catalogue - DRCC

Monash University offers a range of solutions to meet researchers’ specific data requirements. Researchers are strongly encouraged to use these solutions to protect their research data and fulfil institutional and regulatory requirements.

The Data Research Capability Catalogue (DRCC) guides researchers through a series of questions to help identify the most suitable solution.

  1. Select research phase: Researchers choose whether they are at the funding, planning, active research, or close-out phase of their project. This will determine which scenarios are available to them.
  2. What you need to do with your data: Researchers indicate their intended use — for example, storing data, collecting data, or using high-performance computing (HPC).
  3. Monash classification of your data: Researchers determine the classification of their research data. If unsure, they can use the Research Data Classification Tool for guidance.
  4. Size of your data: Researchers select the maximum size of data they will be working with.
  5. Where your data is stored: Researchers specify any storage restrictions, such as data that can be stored anywhere, must remain within Australia, or must stay at Monash.
  6. Who needs access to your data: Researchers identify whether access is required only by them, by other Monash researchers, or by external collaborators.

Based on these selections, suitable options will be displayed. Researchers can then view and compare up to four solutions side by side in a comparison table, which can also be printed for future reference.
