AQoL-7D Algorithm for SPSS

*Variable names: For this algorithm, the variables in your questionnaire or database should be named

aqol1, aqol2  - aqol26.

The item responses should be entered as 1, 2, 3, etc  according to the presentation order in the questionnaire. Each has 4-7 response levels.

*Missing Values: Note that missing data are represented by a blank or dot  and are handled by imputing values within each dimension. Dimensions with 3-4 items will allow for 1 missing value to be imputed, dimensions with 7-8 items will allow for 2 missing values. However, if more item responses in the dimensions are missing, the observations will be dropped and there will not be a dimension score or an instrument score for the individual.

If your data file is in Excel, Access or STATA format, you need to convert it into SPSS by opening SPSS and choosing File -> Open -> Data and then select your data file.

Then follow the steps below.

Step 1: Save and extract the Zip file, then move the SPSS Syntax file to your preferred directory.

Step 2: Open your SPSS dataset, select  File -> Open -> Syntax and open the file you saved in step 2.

Step 3: Select Run -> All

This will produce an output file containing the results of the algorithm and some descriptive statistics.

Step 4: Finally, please remember that you will need to save the dataset to a new file or overwrite existing file to have the scores available for future use.
