MIG 2023: Example challenges

The following are some examples of challenges that were proposed to our students by our industry partners for the Monash Innovation Guarantee in January 2023. The challenges tackled different impact-focused problems that these organisations were facing.

Each of the industry partners/challenge holders provided an open challenge statement and a brief summary of the challenge that they wanted to put forward. Some of the proposed multiple challenges and had more than one group working with them. They also indicated the kind of professional backgrounds that would be ideal for that particular challenge.

Through the course of the 3 weeks of the MIG, the students were placed in interdisciplinary teams and worked on finding a solution, prototype or recommendation for their specific challenge. They presented these as a team during the final Pitch Night and then in the form of individual reports.
