What is Catalyst?

The Catalyst PhD program is a co-designed initiative that tackles real-world challenges by connecting Monash PhD students with Thermo Fisher Scientific, a global leader in science.

This cohort-based experience is designed to complement your research, offering a flexible schedule that fits seamlessly within a full-time PhD. Participants gain a collaborative environment with peer support, direct industry engagement, and opportunities to develop skills and networks that accelerate innovation and prepare them for future careers.

  • Immersive Cohort Experience

    A flexible arrangement spread out over three-months, combining onsite and hybrid work across Monash University and Thermo Fisher Scientific (Scoresby) for the duration of the engagement.

    Research and Development that has a hands-on focus on research design, experimentation, data analysis, prototyping, and knowledge translation.

  • Collaborative Engagement

    Work directly with Thermo Fisher team leads and technical experts to explore challenges, gain practical insights, and contribute to the translation of research into impactful industry solutions.
