Recycled Polymer Products into Railways

The Monash Institute of Railway Technology is contributing to the drive to Net Zero and supporting the circular economy through research into expanding applications for recycled polymer products. Reuse and recycling of polymer products is essential to reduce landfill and carbon emissions and Monash IRT is leading current developments to improve the performance and range of application of these products.

Key areas of expertise involved are:

• Analysis of recycled polymer blends
• Laboratory scale production of novel blends, including reinforcing elements
• Material and physical validation testing of polymer components
• FEA analysis of plastic structures
