Good Tucker app
How can I access it?
The Good Tucker App is available to download for free in Australia from the App Store (Apple) and Google Play (Android). Once downloaded to the device, the app does not require phone or internet connections to work.
How does the app work?
To look-up packaged products, the product barcode can be scanned with the phone camera and the app gives a Thumb Rating indicating its healthiness:
Non-packaged product categories, for example, fresh produce or take-away food items can be looked up in the app to find out their healthiness rating.
Healthiness ratings were developed based on the Health Star Rating algorithm in conjunction with the Australian Bureau of Statistics definitions of core (healthy) and discretionary (unhealthy) foods. It uses a discretionary food/drink filter, so no discretionary food/drinks can get a green (healthy) rating.
