Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine (MD) - Graduate Entry

The Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine (MD) course is a four-year program of study designed for students who have completed their undergraduate studies and are prepared to enter professional training to become a doctor.

Students will complete their first year of study, Year A (pre-clinical year), at the School of Rural Health in Churchill with regular visits to the Clayton campus as part of their studies. The following three years of the program are all spent in clinical environments, and students have the opportunity to complete these placements (Years 3B, 4C and 5D) in metropolitan Melbourne, rural south-eastern Victoria, or rural north-west Victoria.

Our main focus is on improving outcomes for patients by making sure that medical students are strongly connected with our academic experts and clinicians. Course content emphasises clinical communication skills and early clinical contact visits to medical practices, community care facilities and hospitals.

Accreditation

On completion of the Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine (MD) you are eligible for provisional registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and the Medical Board of Australia. After serving a compulsory internship year of residence in an approved hospital, you become eligible for final registration in Victoria and other states of Australia.
