Application Process
The selection process for direct entry medicine at Clayton consists of three components; Year 12 (or equivalent) results, completion of the International Student Admissions Test (ISAT) and a Multiple Mini Interview (MMI). All three components are weighted equally.
International students should refer to the Medicine program admission requirements to confirm their eligibility before applying.

Offers
Please note, conditional offers are not issued for this course and we do not consider incomplete, predicted, or provisional results. Offers will only be released once applicants have provided:
- evidence of successful completion of studies;
- official final high school transcripts;
- evidence of meeting the chemistry subject prerequisite; and,
- evidence of meeting the minimum English language requirement.
If you are completing Year 12 (or equivalent) studies and can only provide final, certified documentation in January 2027 (or later), you may wish to consider applying for a future intake as places for the Medicine program may be filled by the time we can fully assess your application for an offer.
Fees
International applicants are admitted into the program on a full-fee basis. More information can be found on the course fees website.
Please note that Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) in the Medicine Program (M6011 & M6018) are capped by the Federal government. If a student changes their residency status to permanent residency after commencing the course, their fee category will change to domestic full fee paying. This fee category is only slightly less expensive than international student fees, and CSP places will not be made available.
However, as an Australian resident, you will be allocated a higher priority group in the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV) intern match for Victoria. This means you are more likely to secure your preferred working location upon graduation if you are applying for an intern position in Victoria.
Other Costs
Other expenses international students would expect to incur are overseas student health cover (OSHC), accommodation, transport and living expenses, plus textbooks and stationery. Read more about cost of living in Melbourne and other study costs.
Important Notes
International students who, during the application process, become citizens or permanent residents of Australia (including New Zealand citizens) will no longer be eligible for a full fee international place and will have their application terminated. Applicants who are applying for Australian Permanent Residency or Australian Citizenship must notify Faculty Admissions of any changes to their residential status immediately. If you expect to change residency status during the selection and admissions process, you should complete the UCAT ANZ (required for domestic applicants) in addition to the ISAT. For more information, please visit the UCAT ANZ website.
