As part of the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) course, students will complete a total of 1000 hours of fieldwork education, as required by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT). Participation in fieldwork education is integral to learning and is a requirement of the program in all years. Placements are completed in a mix of metropolitan and rural health services. In practice settings, students will have an opportunity to apply theory to practice under the supervision of qualified occupational therapy staff.
Before undertaking placements students must:
- complete a National Police Records Check
- hold a valid Working with Children Check
- comply with the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences Immunisation Policy. For further information please see Mandatory Compliance Policy.
Failure to hold satisfactory checks or meet the immunisation requirements may result in students being unable to complete their course.
