Dr Cathy Grech completed her medical degree at The University of Adelaide in 2002, and after her intern and resident years in the hospital, started her General Practice training in 2005. After completion of her examinations, she became a Fellow of the College of General Practitioners in 2008.
Cathy is passionate about medical student education and, after moving to Melbourne from Adelaide in 2010, joined the Department of General Practice at Monash University in a teaching role. Cathy's activities within the department and the Bachelor of Medical Science/Doctor of Medicine (MED) course includes:
- Coordinator of MED Year 2 Clinical Skills (Theme IV) Programme
- Co-Chair of the MED Theme IV Committee
- Member of the MED Curriculum Committee
- Member of the MED Early Years Management Committee and Assessment Working Group
Cathy was also previously a member of the scientific committee for the John Murtagh Update Course for General Practitioners. She is an acknowledged reviewer for the 10th edition of Talley & O'Connor's Clinical Examination, Australia's seminal clinical skills text for almost 40 years.
As well as working at Monash, Cathy is a General Practitioner at a busy inner city clinic.
Cathy's areas of interest include medical education, women's health and contraception and mental health.
