The Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours) research programme provides students with the opportunity to develop a number of important attributes:
- Demonstrate cognitive skills to identify, retrieve, interpret, critically review and synthesise the relevant literature in the field
- Identify a gap in knowledge or evidence and develop critical, creative and innovative solutions to address the research problem
- Apply cognitive and technical skills to a range of complex problems including developing and executing a research project and collecting, organising, analysing and interpreting data with some independence
- Demonstrate ethical, professional and personal responsibility and behaviours consistent with good research practice and professional codes of practice
- Apply advanced knowledge and technical skills including theoretical, experimental and computational approaches as appropriate for the field of research to demonstrate autonomy, well-developed judgement, adaptability and responsibility as a learner
- Communicate ideas and results perceptively and effectively to professional audiences in oral and written formats
