Medical Elective Placements Alfred Care Group – Alfred Hospital (Bayside Health)

Undertaking a medical elective at Alfred Hospital offers the opportunity to observe and learn within the largest and most active trauma service in Australasia, alongside internationally recognised clinicians.

Elective placements are coordinated by the School of Translational Medicine – Medical Education Office (STM), which delivers the structured clinical teaching program across Alfred Hospital and affiliated health services.

Eligibility – quick check

  • Final-year medical student at time of elective
  • Minimum 12 months hospital-based clinical training
  • Placement length: 4 weeks minimum to 6 weeks maximum
  • Domestic: Australia or New Zealand medical school
  • International: Top 300 university for medicine + English requirements
