Applied Young Economists Webinar series

The AYEW series provides an ideal platform for PhD candidates and post-doctoral researchers to connect, interact and engage with each other, while sharing their enthusiasm for the discipline of economics.

As a global program, the AYEW series invites young economists from institutions across multiple timezones to participate. Monash University coordinates webinars in Australasian and US West Coast time zones, while the University of Warwick oversees webinars in UK, Europe, and US East Coast time zones.

This collaborative approach brings together young economists conducting empirical research in various fields of economics, to one virtual location where their high-quality research and ideas can be shared with a broad audience - including global faculty members - that extends far beyond their home universities.

The AYEW was founded in 2020 by Ashani Amarasinghe (Monash Business School) and Ivan Yotzov (University of Warwick).

Econ Job Market Vlog

First launched in 2021, the Econ Job Market Vlog features video insights on the job market papers of star candidates from the AYEW community, who have been in the economics job market. Each short “elevator pitch” video (up to 5 minutes) offers a concise and engaging overview of the candidate’s research, highlighting key findings and contributions.

The vlog aims to enhance the visibility of young economists by promoting their work through AYEW’s official website and social media platforms, helping them gain greater exposure and recognition in the competitive Economics job market.
