Join us as a challenge owner

Following a successful 2026, we're excited to make MIG bigger and better - increasing our impact in the innovation space.

To industry partners across all sectors and disciplines - we're calling for you to come on board as our MIG challenge owner and share with us a challenge that your organisation is currently facing.

Our interdisciplinary student teams will approach this challenge over the course of an intensive three-week innovation design sprint. They'll be guided through an innovation process used by successful global companies and are encouraged to apply their unique disciplinary expertise to the challenge.

They'll also be advised by specialist Monash coaches and Australian innovation leaders who'll help them tackle these challenges. MIG will conclude with students presenting their prototypes and ideas to you at our Pitch Night.

We want to make this experience easy and accessible for you. With that in mind, we designed MIG to ensure it's free and mutually beneficial for you.
MIG is
  • Cost-free
  • Accessible
  • Low-risk and high-reward
  • Industry-friendly as it involves little time investment
Why you should join our MIG community
  • MIG creates real-life impact for people and the communities they study, work, live and thrive in.
  • Elevate your organisation and immerse in complex, authentic and real-world challenges with talented Monash students.
  • MIG unites a community of industry partners, students, academics and Australian innovation leaders to develop solutions to complex problems.
As an organisation, you'll
  • Receive fresh and insightful prototypes, recommendations and solutions to your challenges from our creative and interdisciplinary student consultants.
  • Have the opportunity to shape an open challenge, in collaboration with our MIG Director, Associate Professor Susie Ho.
  • Network with our cohort of highly motivated students, industry partners, senior university staff, researchers, government, international agencies and key players in the start-up and innovation space.
Fill out the application form below and provide us with a clear open challenge statement and a brief background. We'll be in touch within 2 weeks after your submission.
Please note in the form
  • A clear open challenge statement (a question you have, or a problem you're trying to solve).
  • A brief background of this challenge statement (you're welcome to note multiple challenges).
  • Which of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) the challenge relates to.
MIG consists of 3 key touchpoints in January (1.5 hours per session)
  • Week 1 - Challenge Launch: Join your challenge teams, introduce them to your challenges and answer any burning questions they may have. You can host the students at your organisation or visit us at 750 Collins Street, Melbourne CBD.
  • Week 2 - Industry Partner Visit: Host the students at your organisation and provide them with an immersive experience. This will help them gain important insights to solve the challenge at hand.
  • Week 3 - Pitch Night: Hear the student teams present their prototypes, recommendations and proposals and provide brief feedback, before they finesse their reports to you. This will be held at 750 Collins Street, Melbourne CBD.

That’s it - we'll take care of the rest! We look forward to collaborating with you on this exciting initiative.
