Accreditation and Benchmarking Research

MCSHE has demonstrated expertise in facilitating benchmarking consultations, completing tenders and undertaking research on review and implementation of accreditation standards. Our team capabilities range from leading national consultations to revise accreditation and professional standards or benchmarking processes, through to sterling/advisory committee membership and one-off consultations to guide project teams in their accreditation and benchmarking activities.

MCSHE team projects have included:

  • A review and consultation of the Dietitians Australia (DA) Accreditation Standards for Dietetics Education Programs (Version 3.0) and associated evidence guide for Dietitians Australia, independent of the Australian Dietetics Council (ADC). The review involved coordinating an environmental scan to benchmark accreditation standards across all Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) professions and self-regulated health professions and a comprehensive review of the available literature related to dietetics workforce statistics, graduate preparation and preparedness and future needs. This was followed by drafting of the standards for release over multiple rounds of consultation with members of the profession and identified key stakeholder groups.
  • In 2023 MCSHE was commissioned to lead the national review of the National Alliance of Self Regulating Health Professions (NASRHP) Membership Standards (2024). The team led the steering group in conducting extensive benchmarking and a literature review, prior to four rounds of national consultation to ensure the revised proposed standards would meet current and future emerging health workforce needs for all NASRHP members.
  • MCSHE is currently supporting revisions of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) Enrolled Nurse Standards for Practice in partnership with the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Monash University and NMBA. Through national consultations via expert advisory group discussions and Delphi surveys, revised proposed standards are due to be released in 2025.
  • MCSHE and the Monash Medical Program collaborated to review, benchmark and recommend faculty development directions to medical curricula internationally.
