Quality Supervision Course
A twelve-week short course inclusive of a day-long workshop (or two half day workshops) designed to support participants in navigating the complexities of supervision, and the provision of feedback to students, peers and staff. Through a mixture of plenary discussions and hands-on group activities in the workshops, coupled with a variety of tailored and meaningful assessments participants will develop knowledge and skills to use in their day-to-day roles or future roles as supervisors and education leaders.
Topics include:
- Characteristics of effective supervision and its outcomes
- Effective feedback to support learner development
- Supervisory strategies to support learners experiencing difficulty
- Strategies to evaluate supervisory practice, for self and others
- Key principles underpinning supervision in health care contexts
This course will provide supervisors with the knowledge and skills for effective clinical supervision practice across a range of contexts. Designed for clinical supervisors across the spectrum of health professions and training responsibilities, participation in the course will enable supervisors to reflect on their experiences and explore development opportunities in their own practice. With active peer learning integrated throughout the course, participants will also gain valuable insight into the supervisory practices of others and develop a diverse and shared learning community for the future.
