About DOMINO

In Australia, three vaccines are recommended in every pregnancy - Influenza, Pertussis (Whooping cough) and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). COVID-19 vaccine can be considered depending on individual circumstances and preferences.

DOMINO (Data-driven Optimised Maternal Immunisation & Neonatal Outcomes) is a national research Partnership Grant aiming to improve uptake of maternal vaccines across Australia. The DOMINO project wants to learn why some pregnant women choose to have vaccines and why others do not. It will use health information and work with families and communities to create a vaccination plan for pregnancy. The project will also see how well RSV vaccination programs work, how easy they are to use, and if they can continue to help families over time.

Led by Monash University, the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Partnership Grant was awarded to Professor Michelle Giles. DOMINO brings together nine partner organisations across research, health, government and community sectors. The project is funded through an NHMRC Partnership Grant of $1,439,943.29 over five years.
