There are approximately 30 places available in the Graduate Entry program for international students.
International applicants must have completed, or be in the final year of completing, a bachelor's degree from an internationally recognised university consisting of significant and broad biomedical science content (e.g. Pharmacology, Physiology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Microbiology or Genetics). International applicants must achieve a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 6.0 out of 7.0 to be considered.
Unfortunately, Monash University does not accept course transfers into the Graduate Entry Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine (MD) program. Students currently studying a university degree who are interested in pursuing medical studies will need to apply, and be considered, for entry with all other applicants.
International applications are currently open and close on 30 June. Late applications will not be considered.
International applicants must apply through an agent in your country or directly to Monash.
Applicants can only be considered for entry twice. These applications do not have to be in consecutive years.
The only things that are considered as part of your application are your undergraduate GPA and your interview performance. However, having volunteer or extracurricular experience may give you a broader perspective on challenges felt in communities served by health professions and so provide you with greater insight in an interview.
Interviews will be held online via Zoom only. Interview dates are provided on our website.
Applicants for this course are only allowed to attend the MMI once. Those who are re-applying for this course and have previously attended an interview for this course are not eligible to attend the interview again. Instead, the results from their previous interview will be used.
We do not endorse any external coaching for the MMI. There is no expectation of clinical knowledge, and there are no right or wrong answers. Instead, the interview is based on your thoughts and views of several different real world scenarios that you are presented with. As the interview is conducted online using Zoom, we do encourage students to practice, and build confidence, in presenting using this format.
Requests to defer will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Applicants should note that deferrals will not be allowed except under exceptional circumstances.
Note, compulsory national service qualifies as an exceptional circumstance.
If your residency status changes during the application process, your application will be cancelled and you will need to re-apply as a domestic student.
Please note that Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) in the Medicine Program (M6011 & M6018) are capped by the Federal government. If a student changes their residency status to permanent residency after commencing the course, their fee category will change to domestic full fee paying. This fee category is only slightly less expensive than international student fees, and CSP places will not be made available.
However, as an Australian resident, you will be allocated a higher priority group in the PMCV intern match for Victoria. This means you are more likely to secure your preferred working location upon graduation if you are applying for an intern position in Victoria.
No. We do not award credit for prior study in the medicine program.
