Melbourne Interventional Group (MIG)

In 2004, the Melbourne Interventional Group (MIG) began collecting standardised procedural and follow-up data on consecutive patients undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) across public hospitals in Victoria. Currently six public hospitals contribute.

Over 50,000 procedures have been entered into the registry. Thirty-day follow up is undertaken and linkage with the National Death Index occurs routinely to provide longer term outcome data. MIG has published 84 manuscripts in peer review journals.

Since December 2013, hospitals have been directly entering data into the registry securely at their sites via a web system. The web system enables real-time data querying and direct access for hospitals to their site data for local analysis and reporting purposes. Linkage with the Victorian Cardiac Outcomes Registry (VCOR) – PCI module has also occurred, thus allowing MIG hospitals to simultaneously participate in both registries.

The MIG investigators were fundamental in establishing the Asia-Pacific Evaluation of Cardiovascular Therapies (ASPECT) Collaboration. This collaboration is ongoing and includes representatives from across several Asia-Pacific countries PCI registries.
