Professor Astrid Linder named in 2025 Forbes Global 50 Over 50 List

Professor Astrid Linder, an Adjunct Professor at the Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC), and Professor of Traffic Safety at the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute (VTI), has been recognised on the 2025 Forbes Global 50 Over 50 list, a prestigious honour celebrating women making significant contributions beyond the age of 50.
Adjunct Professor Linder has worked collaboratively with, and within, MUARC since her appointment as a Holden Postdoctoral Fellow with the Centre for a number of years in the early 2000s’. In 2014, then Associate Professor Linder was appointed an adjunct of MUARC, and continues that relationship today, providing valuable collaboration opportunities for staff and PhD students within Europe and internationally.
Adjunct Professor Linder is renowned for her ground-breaking work in traffic safety, particularly for women. In 2022, she led the development of the world’s first female crash test dummy, aimed at addressing the higher rates of injury women face in car crashes due to gender differences in size and physiology.
Her efforts have been recognised globally, earning her accolades such as the EU Champions of Transport Research competition and a spot on the BBC’s ‘100 most inspiring women’ list for 2023.
Adjunct Professor Linder’s research and leadership have revolutionised the safety standards for car seatbelts and airbags, making vehicles safer for women. This recognition on the Forbes list highlights Linder's enduring impact on both the field of traffic safety and her global influence in advancing research for more inclusive protection standards.
