Governance
The Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC) is governed through structures that ensure strong leadership, accountability, and alignment with Monash University’s policies and strategic priorities. Our governance approach supports MUARC’s mission to improve safety and reduce injury through world-leading research, education and research training.
Governance Structure
MUARC is part of the Sub-Faculty of Health Sciences within the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. We adhere to the University's overarching governance and compliance framework as set out in the Monash University Institutes and Centres Policy and Procedure. Our internal governance structure ensures that MUARC’s operations, research, and strategic development are effectively managed.
Centre Management Group
The MUARC Centre Management Group provides high-level strategic oversight and coordination of Centre activities. The Group supports informed decision-making and ensures that MUARC’s work continues to deliver high quality research and other services expected by our staff, students, the university, and our funding partners.

At MUARC we believe that excellence and quality are paramount through all stages of research, industry engagement and collaborations. To achieve this, MUARC is part of the Monash Quality Management System (QMS) that complies with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
This certification enables the highest level of quality and confidence in the services we provide, ensuring user satisfaction and supporting research excellence. Monash University has developed a Quality Framework for implementation and maintenance of the QMS so that it is fully integrated into all working practices, and that it continually helps to improve the quality of our services as we fulfil our users' requirements.
