The Victorian Injury Surveillance Unit (VISU) provides a specialised injury surveillance service in Victoria and enjoys a close relationship with the Department of Health of Human Services (DHHS).
VISU has been funded by DHHS since 2005. It was previously funded by VicHealth.
The Unit’s data informs Victorian government policy and injury prevention programs by providing regular in-depth reports (‘Hazard’ bi-annual publications) and makes recommendations for prevention.
VISU data is also included in the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services -produced local government area and regional health status profiles.
