Emergency services investment in prevention and preparedness to mitigate risks and consequences of disaster

Reiterated by past and recent bushfire inquiries, emergency services agencies are increasingly investing in prevention and preparedness to mitigate risks and consequences of disasters. To support individual and household level prevention and preparedness, Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) delivers and supports a broad array of programs and events. In line with the organisation’s increasing investment in evidence-based risk reduction, FRNSW partnered with Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC) to conduct a systematic evaluation of its suite of fire prevention and preparedness approaches.

FRNSW and MUARC are seeking a PhD candidate to engage in translational research that supports and extends upon this work. This may involve additional analyses conducted on the large, cross-sectional dataset that has been collected and/or additional research that considers other hazards and/or applies other approaches and methodologies.
