Dr Adriana Orifici's monograph responds to a significant gap in legal research: how the law regulates employer conduct toward employees suspected of misconduct – known as respondents – during internal investigations.

Using interdisciplinary, theoretical, doctrinal and empirical methods, Workplace Investigations: Justice and the Legal Regulation of Employer Conduct (Oxford University Press, 2026) builds a novel nine-element framework of justice for respondents, alongside original findings on how respondents experience investigations and a sustained critique of Australian law.

Output

Published on 20 June 2026, the monograph's launch at Monash Business School on 24 June drew over 80 guests, including representatives from the legal profession, federal and state government, ASX-listed companies and workplace investigations firms.

Outcome and impact

Highly relevant to practitioners and policy experts in Australia and beyond, the monograph forms part of a leading comparative labour law series – with its long-term impact still ahead, given its very recent publication.
