Connecting PRME with the Sustainable Development Goals

For Monash Business School, the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) is a core institutional philosophy that directly channels our research and education toward achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The alignment of PRME and the SDGs

PRME acts as the bridge connecting Monash Business School to the broader UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Comprising Six Principles: Purpose, Values, Method, Research, Partnership, and Dialogue. PRME provides our blueprint for embedding sustainability into business education.

While PRME dictates how a business school should operate, the 17 SDGs define what global issues need urgent attention. Integrating PRME into our purpose, mission and values has enabled us to naturally align our curricula and research to tackle specific goals, such as:

  • SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
  • SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities
  • SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
  • SDG 13: Climate Action

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.
