Annual degree re-enrolment
Do I need to re-enrol?
Yes! All PhD and Masters by Research are required to re-enrol in their research degrees toward the end of each calendar year. You must still re-enrol even if:
- you are on leave and not certain that you will be returning to study in the following year
- you are intending on submitting in late December of this year
The only exception is for candidates who are currently under examination (have already submitted their thesis/exegesis and, if practice-based, have held their Examination Exhibition)
If you don't re-enrol on time you will be liable for a late re-enrolment fee (even if you subsequently withdraw from the course) and may have your enrolment terminated. If you fail to re-enrol, you will also lose your student privileges including library and Internet access
Re-enrolment process and timeline
Use the Web Enrolment System (WES) to re-enrol. Remember to login to WES using your student username, not a staff username (if you have one).
Reminder emails will be sent in October, ahead of the cut-off dates.
Do not leave re-enrolment until the last day. The University will not waive the late enrolment fee due to WES access problems.
Encumbrances
Please note if you are currently encumbered you will not be able to re-enrol or access university services. The late fine will still be applied if you are unable to re-enrol due to an encumbrance.
