Master of Architecture studio Hot Air Transformations: Kuala Lumpur explores how equatorial cities can adapt and reuse what they already have to meet urgent climate goals. Led by Professor Erik L’Heureux, Head of the Department of Architecture, the studio puts students face-to-face with Malaysia’s mid-century modern buildings to retrofit by testing low-carbon strategies.
Design Prize 2025: Maya's dementia care innovation
When Maya Soha set out to create a product for her Year 12 Product Design and Technology class, she looked to her own family for inspiration. Maya's grandmother, her “abuela,” was living with dementia in a care facility.
Driven by these personal insights, Maya designed a multi-sensory garment that earned her the prestigious 2025 Monash Design Prize.
