When Gary He decided to move from Shanghai to Melbourne, he wasn't just looking for a new degree. After six years as an Experience Designer, the spark that initially drew him to the industry was fading. He needed an inspiring space to recharge and rediscover his creative passion.

From a young age, Xavier was drawn to the natural world. Australia’s landscapes, ecosystems and wildlife shaped how he thought about responsibility, care and the role humans play within the environment. That passion ultimately became the driving force behind Bush Cradle, a modular habitat system designed to support Australia’s endangered native animals.

Lucy didn’t arrive at the Bachelor of Communication Design in a straight line. After starting degrees in Arts and then Science, she realised she was craving something more creative, but still grounded in real-world impact. The breadth of design electives offered in the Bachelor of Design at Monash offered that sweet spot. Beginning in Industrial Design, Lucy soon found herself drawn to the more visual, narrative-driven world of Communication Design, where ideas, systems and people intersect.
