Evidence Based Medicine short course
If you are interested in honing your skills and understanding of Evidence Based Medicine, this course will take you through the first steps into research, practising evidence-based medicine, and help mentor you through the process.
For those who are advanced in their training or established in practice, the principles will help to reflect on your approach to diagnosis and treatment.
In this one day course Professor Frank Bowden will walk you though practising evidence-based medicine, and help mentor you through the process with optional one on one support sessions available to participants.
As a participant, you will:
- learn about the history of modern clinical research and evidence based medicine
- learn the strengths and weaknesses of diagnostic testing and treatments.
- learn how to validate a diagnostic test and explore how these can be used most effectively.
- learn the fundamentals of randomised clinical trial methodology, and how to balance the harms and benefits of treatments
- receive a certificate of attendance
This short course is designed for junior doctors, registrars and consultants who wish to learn more about the principles and practice of Evidence Based Medicine. Final year medical students are also invited to attend. To participate, you must study or work in the Loddon Mallee region. Up to 20 sponsored places are available.
