Nilakshi joined the Southern Academic Primary Care Research Unit (SAPCRU) within the Department of General Practice as a research officer in May 2013. Her research interests focus on understanding and overcoming health disparities.
She has worked on projects across both of SAPCRU’s principal research streams: primary care reform and refugee health over a number of years. Nilakshi is currently involved in implementing a health care navigator model to support people living with disabiltiies and mental health conditions access needed primary care as part of the IMPACT study. She is also Project Manager on the OPTIMISE Partnership Project, an NHMRC funded collaboration between researchers and key health sector partners to improve systems for primary health care delivery to refugees.
