Fiona is a Research Fellow within the Infectious Diseases Epidemiology Unit of the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine. She has a Bachelor of Environmental Science (Hons.) from the University of Waterloo (Canada) and a PhD in wastewater reuse risk analysis from the University of Melbourne. She has a diverse research background, including field-based research and modelling, and she has worked in teaching and research at the University of Melbourne.
Fiona’s past research has focused mainly on modelling microbial human health risks associated with wastewater reuse; however, she spent the last 3 years working as a Research Fellow at Turning Point using administrative data to assess service use amongst alcohol and other drug treatment seekers and to develop a patient characterisation model to assist with system and service planning. Fiona is a member of the International Water Association, is a reviewer for a number of high impact journals and is on the Editorial Board for the journal Microbial Risk Analysis.
