Biography

Zoe joins MUARC with over a decade of experience developing public health and ethics guidelines and advice at the National Health and Medical Research Council. Zoe’s expertise is in knowledge translation, having conducted literature reviews and managed a multitude of systematic reviews and Overviews on complex public health topics. She is also experienced in applying the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluations (GRADE) approach to rate the certainty of evidence and develop recommendations.

Doctoral research

Injuries and adverse effects from cosmetic use of non-ionising radiation in Australia

Current Research

Zoe’s PhD aims to characterise injuries and adverse effects from cosmetic use of non-ionising radiation (NIR) in Australia, and to identify factors associated with preventable harm. Her project includes analysis of media reports, and legal, regulatory and healthcare data, along with a survey of consumers undergoing these treatments in Australia.

The outcomes of this research will be used to develop evidence-based recommendations for the regulation of cosmetic NIR use in Australia. This project is supported by the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency.

Areas of Interest

Zoe is interested in knowledge translation methods and the use of evidence in public policy development, in particular relating to novel or emerging public health or consumer issues.
