Health promotion remains a strategic area of study where students are interested, job opportunities are consistent, and employers seek these key skills. The Health promotion minor focuses on improving health and wellbeing at the individual, community and population levels. This minor allows you to develop a strong understanding of the social, behavioural, environmental and policy factors that influence health and health-related behaviours.
Skills and capabilities you’ll develop
Through this minor, you will gain practical skills in designing, implementing and evaluating evidence-based health promotion initiatives. You will learn how to analyse health issues, identify determinants of health, engage communities, and develop strategies that support positive health outcomes. You will develop skills highly valued by employers, including communication and advocacy skills, project planning and management, community engagement, critical thinking, problem-solving, research and evaluation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across diverse settings.
