| Purpose / aims: | The ANZTR focuses on monitoring trauma care, from the time of incident to discharge from definitive care, in order to reflect and act upon emerging trends and demands on the trauma system across Australia and New Zealand. The ANZTR provides risk adjusted outcomes to trauma centres and continues to increase its capture of major trauma through rigorous recruitment. |
| Population captured: | All trauma patients who present to one of the designated trauma centres with an injury severity score (ISS) greater than 12 or death after injury. |
| Outcomes collected: | ANZTR data is defined by the Binational Trauma Minimum Dataset. The dataset includes but is not limited to the details of the injury event, pre-hospital observations, injuries sustained, treatments received, in-hospital observations and discharge status. |
