Purpose / Aims: The Saudi TraumA Registry is a collaboration between the King Saud Medical City (KSMC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and the National Trauma Research Institute at the Alfred Hospital. The objective has been to establish a national registry to examine epidemiology of major trauma, medical processes and treatments and risk adjusted outcomes, which will enable international comparisons. Currently the incidence of major trauma is much higher in Saudi Arabia than most developed countries and there is a national focus on improving injury prevention and outcomes. The STAR commenced data collection in 2017 and is a viable prototype for the pending national trauma registry.
Population Captured: All patients that present to the KSMC as a result of injury that meet STAR inclusion criteria.
Outcomes Collected: In-hospital outcomes of mortality; length of stay and hospital performance indicators. Risk adjusted benchmarking is enabled by comparison with The Alfred Health Trauma Registry (AHTR) data.
