Associate Professor Sjaan Koppel recognised with the Kidsafe Victoria Champion Award

MUARC’s Associate Professor Sjaan Koppel has been awarded the Kidsafe Victoria Champion Award, recognising her longstanding contribution to child occupant protection.

“It’s an incredible honour to receive this award,” said Sjaan. “I’ve had the absolute pleasure of collaborating with Kathy Taylor (General Manager – Child Car Restraints), Sarah Sexton (CEO), and Mel Courtney (former CEO). Their passion and commitment to child safety continue to inspire me.”

This award reinforces the importance of making child road user safety a national priority, and the essential role that science, advocacy, and collaboration play in driving meaningful change.

“Together—with researchers, policymakers, families, industry, and community organisations—we can turn evidence into action to ensure every child travels as safely as possible.”
