Using SmartEvidence Framework
Your ePortfolio template or unit may include a SmartEvidence Framework, which, if being used, will appear on the first page. This framework allows you to connect your ePortfolio content and evidence directly with the specific competencies or skills you are being assessed on. To learn more about the SmartEvidence Framework and how to add and use it, watch the video below, or follow the step-by-step instructions.
How to map evidence and add annotations
The SmarEvidence map displays competency elements as rows and individual collection pages as columns. You can indicate how your work addresses these elements by adding annotations in one of two ways:
Option 1: Add annotations directly from the map
- Click on any grey dot on the SmartEvidence map.
- In the annotation panel that appears, use the Annotation field to describe how the page content relates to the competency element.
- Ensure Allow feedback is set to Yes so your teachers can assess your work.
- Click Save.
Option 2: Add an Annotation block to a page
- Navigate to the page containing your evidence and click the Pencil icon (top right) to enter Edit mode.
- Click the Plus icon, select a position for your block, and click Add.
- From the Content types list, selection Annotation.
- Fill in the Annotation field, select your standard from the Standard dropdown, and ensure Allow feedback is set to Yes.
- Click Save.
Understanding the status icons Once an annotation is added, the appearance of the dots on your SmartEvidence map will change to reflect its status:
| Icon / Symbol | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Grey dot | The page has not yet been associated with any of the standards. |
| Hollow circle | You have created an annotation. The page is now ready for your teacher to review. |
| White cross on red background | The evidence displayed is not sufficient to demonstrate this particular standard. |
| Yellow half moon | The page still needs some work before it can be marked as fulfilling the standard. |
| White checkmark on green circle | Your teacher has marked your page as successfully meeting the standard. |
NoteOnly one annotation can be added per criterion on any given page, but multiple annotations addressing different criteria can be added to one page using separate Annotation blocks. You can also address the same criterion across different pages.
