What is FeedbackFruits?

FeedbackFruits is a collaborative learning tool integrated directly into Moodle, designed to provide students with opportunities to give and receive feedback, and work collaboratively on a range of activities. The two main features you will encounter are Peer Review and Group Member Evaluation:

Peer Review structures the process of students reviewing work submitted by other students, allowing you to learn from different perspectives.
Group Member Evaluation structures the process of students giving feedback about other group members’ contributions without requiring a formal file submission.

Group Member Evaluation

The Group Member Evaluation activity allows you to evaluate your teammates' contributions to group assessments and assists your lecturer in understanding group dynamics to ensure fair grading and reduce the issue of "free-riding" in group assessments.

Peer Review

The peer review tool allows you to provide feedback on peer work. Receiving early feedback and providing feedback on other students' work using the rubric criteria can help you further refine your own final assessment submission.

Collusion warning

The FeedbackFruits group evaluation assessment activity must be done on your own without any collusion between group members. The group evaluation must be your genuine evaluation of your group members in accordance with the evaluation criteria, and include constructive feedback to your group members. Do not do the assessment activity in the presence of your group members. Your evaluation must be your own and not under the direction or influence of other students being evaluated.

Getting started

FeedbackFruits is integrated with Moodle. Simply click the link provided in your unit to get started (only available in units where your lecturer has enabled it).
The marking criteria and guides will be visible once you start the Feedback stage of the activity. However, you can check your Moodle unit’s Assessment’ section where your lecturer may have shared the rubric early, so you can view it before starting the activity.

Peer review and evaluation

If you receive feedback that is unconstructive or inappropriate, you can use the built-in reporting tool to alert your lecturer anonymously.
1. Locate the comment: Find the feedback post you wish to flag.
2. Open options: Click the three dots (...) in the top right corner of the comment box.
3. Report to teacher: Select "Report post to teacher," choose your reason, and provide an optional explanation.
4. Finalise: Submit the report; your lecturer will be notified via email to assess the situation.
Anonymity depends on the settings chosen by your lecturer, but your identity is always visible to staff.
- Check for pseudonyms: If enabled, you will see a fruit-themed name (e.g., "Kiwi") instead of your real name.
- Assume staff visibility: Remember that regardless of peer settings, your lecturer can always see who authored every comment.
If you miss a deadline for one step (e.g., submitting), you may be blocked from the next (e.g., reviewing others) which will result in losing the marks for that stage depending on how your lecturer has configured the marks assigned to each step of the activity.

Feedback and grades

This can depend on how your lecturer has set up the activity. In most FeedbackFruits activities, you won’t see your feedback until after the "Give Feedback" deadline has passed for the whole class, which ensures the process is fair for everyone.
You will receive email notifications for key events, such as when a new stage opens, when you receive feedback, or when someone replies to your comment. You can manage your notification settings within the tool to ensure you stay updated.
Yes. You can export your received feedback as a PDF for personal reference.
If your lecturer has included a reflection step, after receiving feedback, you are often required to read it and write a short reflection. This is a key part of the "self-regulated learning" process and is often the final step to completing the activity.
If your teacher has set deadlines, they will be visible in the FeedbackFruits activity when you click into it. If the deadline has passed, you may request an extension via the extensions and special consideration form.
You can apply for an extension for a FeedbackFruits activity, as long as the activity was not part of an in-person assessment, such as a group presentation. In the extensions and special consideration application form, enter the name of the FeedbackFruits activity manually.

Troubleshooting and errors

If you have accidentally selected the wrong peer, your ability to fix it depends on whether you have already started the review.
1. Check your progress: If you haven't started writing yet, try navigating back to the selection screen to pick the correct person or group.
2. Contact your lecturer: If you have already submitted or started the review, you cannot change the allocation yourself. Email your lecturer immediately to explain the error.
3. Wait for backend support: With your lecturer's approval, FeedbackFruits Support can manually remove the incorrect allocation so you can be re-allocated.
Note

Act quickly! Re-allocations are much harder to process once a deadline has passed or if the other student has already interacted with your feedback.
If all the FeedbackFruits activity steps are not displaying (such as review peers), contact your lecturer immediately so they can address the issue as soon as possible, giving you enough time to complete the activity.
This may happen if a previous step has not been completed, the deadline has not opened yet, or the lecturer has not made the next step available. You should check the activity instructions and contact your lecturer if you believe you should already have access.
You should refresh the page and reopen the activity from Moodle. If it still appears incomplete, you should contact your lecturer and include a screenshot of what you see.
No, deadlines, extensions, and grading decisions are managed by the lecturer or course team. You should contact your lecturer directly for these requests.
Feedback visibility depends on the activity setup. In many cases, received feedback becomes available only after the feedback deadline has passed or once the lecturer has opened/published the next step.
You can try using Google Chrome, refreshing the page, clearing cache, logging out and back into Moodle, and disabling VPN if applicable. If the issue continues, you should contact your lecturer with a screenshot of the error.

	4. Access 24/5 support If you have a technical issue, look for the chat icon in the bottom-left corner of the activity. If your question can’t be answered by their AI chatbot, you can chat with the FeedbackFruits live support team (response times typically under 5 minutes).
