Welcome

There's a lot to learn when transitioning from high school to uni and this is a good place to start. You'll find some preparation information and enrolment steps. There are links to the next steps including Orientation and a week-by-week guide to your first semester. So, welcome to Monash and let's get started!

Enrolment

  • VTAC Domestic round

Due to high demand for our courses in the semester one 2026 intake, there are no undergraduate CSP places available for semester two this year. Monash will not be participating in the VTAC rounds for the 2026 mid-year enrolment.

  • VTAC entry will open on 20/09/2017 at 8pm

Please come back then to view your offers and enrolment steps.

Congratulations and welcome to Monash University!

Once you have accepted your offer, it's time to enrol

Before enrolling, make sure you have met all the conditions and accepted your offer. If you're waiting on a credit outcome, proceed anyway - you can change your units in the first couple of weeks of semester.

VTAC offers: If you received a Monash offer through VTAC we'll be sending out your student course agreement soon. Once you have read through and accepted your offer, you can return here to enrol.

Exchange and study abroad students: If you're studying here for one or two semesters, please refer to advice from Monash Abroad on completing your enrolment.

Step 1: Create your Monash account

If you’re having trouble setting up your account, follow the instructions on our account page, or reach out to the Service Desk. Just keep in mind, our Service desk is closed from Thursday 25 December and reopens again on Monday 5 January.

Previous Monash accounts

  • Already have an active Monash account? Go straight to step 2.
  • If you had a Monash account that is now inactive, complete this step to reactivate it.

We recommend you get your Monash account right away, as the system may take a few hours and you need it to go on to the next steps.

To set up your Monash account you need your Monash ID. This is in your International Student Course Agreement (ISCA).

You'll also be asked to set up multi-factor authentication. Once you have completed all steps to create a secure account, you can go on to the next step.

Having trouble with your Monash account?

Activating your account

See our step-by-step guide to activating your Monash account from activation to setting up multi-factor authentication (MFA) and other handy self-service options. We strongly recommend you take up the self-service option for back-up codes and password reset - this can save you a lot of time if you forget your password or lose your phone.

Android users setting up MFA from China may encounter problems. Please see the help page at register for MFA from China.

Multi-factor authentication backup codes

If you get locked out of your account because your phone is lost, damaged, or replaced, or if you’ve accidentally deleted the Okta Verify app, you can now use a backup code to reset your MFA and get back into your account.

Password problems?

For any password problems, visit Identity Management Services. You'll also find how to register to change your own password.

Need more help?

If you're still experiencing issues creating an account and/or accessing your email, contact the Service Desk for help.

Using your Monash account and email

Use your account to access your email, class timetable, student portal, course materials, the library and the Web Enrolment System (WES).

We delete your account if you don't complete your enrolment, so make sure you enrol by the deadline.

Email

To access your Monash mail account log into your Student Portal.

Your Monash account is the only email the University will use to communicate with you. You should check it at least twice a week so you don't miss important messages about your enrolment or studies.

Go to step 2

Step 2: Plan your course

This step requires you to do some reading about your course so you understand the structure and requirements.

  • Understand your course structure: Most courses have specific requirements and units that you must take (core requirements). Some have units you can choose (electives)
  • Check which units are available: Some units cannot be taken before taking other units first (prerequisites), or at the same time (corequisites)

You'll then be able to select your units and record the unit codes. Step 3 shows you how to enter these into the enrolment system to finalise your enrolment.

Monash University uses digital ID passes. No need to carry a card – you can simply use your smartphone. A digital M-Pass works exactly the same as a card.

Step 4: Order your M-Pass

Your M-Pass allows you to:

  • access buildings
  • use the library, gym and shuttle bus services
  • pay for your printing and photocopying.

Before you start

Before you can set up your M-Pass, you’ll need to take a photo (and verify your identity) using VerifyMe. You’ll need to supply a photo ID (passport, Australian driver licence or Australian proof of age card), then you’ll be asked to take a selfie for your M-Pass.

You can’t upload or take a photo of a pre-prepared image, so make sure you’re ready to take a photo for your M-Pass before you start the process. In most cases, you won’t be able to change your M-Pass photo once it’s been taken through VerifyMe.

Take a selfie for your ID

You’ll use VerifyMe to verify your identity and take a selfie for your M-Pass.

To take a selfie for your M-Pass:

  1. Log into the Web Enrolment System (WES).
  2. Click Submit a photo for your ID card.
  3. Follow the prompts:
    1. Verify your identity by uploading your photo ID.
    2. Take a selfie for your M-Pass (see photo guidelines below).

Take your photo

Set up your digital M-Pass

VerifyMe will automatically check your selfie against your ID and send you an email once your photo has been approved (this can take up to an hour). Then you're ready to set up your digital M-Pass.

Once you’ve completed the previous steps to enrol in units, you have accepted your offer.

Help with this step

ID photo guidelines

You’ll need to take a selfie for your M-Pass on the spot, so make sure:

  • you’re not wearing anything that covers your face (e.g. headphones, hat, sunglasses)
  • there’s no shadow or reflections on your face, glass reflection, or red eye
  • you use a plain, light-coloured background.
Reasons your ID request may be rejected

Your student M-Pass application may be rejected if:

  • your selfie doesn’t match your photo ID
  • your photo ID document was cropped or wasn't scanned properly
  • your selfie doesn't conform with the photo guidelines.

If your verification request is rejected, you’ll receive an email with what you need to do and resubmit.

Previously at Monash College

If you’re enrolling at Monash University and you were previously at Monash College, you’ll need a new digital M-Pass. All you have to do is:

  1. Follow the instructions to remove your Monash College M-Pass. by following the instructions.
  2. Set up your new digital M-Pass using your University account.
Student ID number

If you’ve forgotten your student ID number, you can:

  • check your M-Pass
  • log into the Web Enrolment System (WES), and your student ID number will be displayed at the top of your screen
  • ask our virtual assistant – it only takes a moment, but you'll need to first log in with your Monash student account.

If you’re still needing assistance, you can contact us at Monash Connect. First, we need to check you have the right to be given this ID number. By doing this, we're abiding by the Australian privacy laws. When you contact us, provide these personal details:

  1. Full name (while studying at Monash)
  2. Date of birth
  3. Course you're studying at Monash
  4. The years you're studying at Monash.

We'll email your student ID number once we've checked your details against our student database.

Step 5: Orientation – start your student journey

Orientation Week runs from Monday 23 to Friday 27 February.

Orientation is your chance to get a head-start and make connections with peers and faculty members. You’ll gain knowledge of what to expect at University, including:

  • how to connect with other students
  • library skills sessions
  • clubs, societies and student associations
  • free programs and services available to students
  • a program of events and activities and much more.
