Summer and Winter semesters

Summer and Winter units are a great way to manage your coursework requirements, get back on track, and make the most of one-off opportunities.

How to enrol

Make sure you meet the prerequisites and enrolment rules. Some units may have an expression of interest process to be selected for enrolment, or units may have quotas.
You can enrol in some Summer and Winter units using the Web Enrolment System (WES).
If a unit has an Expression of Interest or application process, you will be notified if you have been approved and your enrolment will be processed for you.
If you can't enrol via WES, you will need to email the Chief Examiner of the unit (listed in the relevant Handbook entry) to ask for approval to enrol - if approved, then complete the online Enrolment Amendment Form and attach the email approval to have your enrolment processed.

All units are offered to students with a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) at the CSP rate, and to full-fee students. See fees for summer and winter semesters.

Discontinue a Summer or Winter unit

It is your responsibility to be aware of the administrative dates, including when you can withdraw from units to avoid penalties, for Summer and Winter units. These dates can vary between units.

You can discontinue some Summer and Winter units in the Web Enrolment System (WES) and avoid financial or academic penalties. If WES will not allow you to discontinue, you need to submit an online Enrolment Amendment Form by the unit discontinuation date. Unit discontinuation dates are listed under Unit information.

If you are unable to complete the online Enrolment Amendment Form, please submit a query to Monash Connect requesting to be discontinued, by the unit discontinuation date.

Units being offered by the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture in Summer 2025-2026 can be seen below.

Summer Semester A 2025 will run from early November 2025 to mid-February 2026. Summer Semester B 2026 will run from early January to mid-February 2026. Units may only run for a short time within those teaching periods.
