Profile

Bec is currently a Research Fellow in the Department of Social Work, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University, Australia.

Bec has been involved in a range of social and child welfare related research projects, partnering with government and other external stakeholders. These projects have included largescale program evaluations, multiple systematic evidence syntheses and quantitative data analysis. Her current research investigates how cognitive and other biases can impact clinical reasoning, how these errors can alter decision-making outcomes in health and social service delivery, and, importantly, what strategies can mitigate their negative influence. Her broader research interests include areas of critical thinking and decision-making within human service systems, and particularly how theory and evidence can feed into interventions that improve real-life outcomes for human service users.

Bec holds a PhD in Biosciences and a Masters of Social Work from the University of Melbourne.
