Monash Social Work has a 40-year track record of training social workers and turning research findings into improved policy, services and practice. We are globally recognised for our research expertise in areas like addiction, mental health and family violence, and are helping transform policy and practice - from improving education for children in out-of-home care to supporting families during their first experiences with the Australian mental health system.
At the Department of Social Work, we offer both PhD and MPhil as part of our Higher Degree Research (HDR) program. PhD studies take 3 years of full-time (6 years part-time), while the MPhil is a 2-year full-time (4 year part-time) program.
Both of these programs are 100 per cent research degrees for which candidates are required to submit a major thesis for examination.
