Appointment of Professor Jian-Min Zuo as Director of the Monash Centre for Electron Microscopy

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Jian-Min Zuo as the new Director of the Monash Centre for Electron Microscopy (MCEM). He will officially assume his role in mid-June 2025.

Prof Jian-Min Zuo

Jian-Min is a distinguished expert and international leader in the field of advanced electron microscopy for materials research. He earned his Ph.D. in condensed matter physics from Arizona State University (ASU) in 1989 and has since dedicated 25 years to teaching and research at the University of Illinois, where he was awarded the position of Racheff Professor of Materials Science.

His research encompasses electron diffraction and atomic resolution imaging, with significant applications in materials science. He has published over 250 articles in related areas and authored two books on transmission electron microscopy. Jian-Min is a fellow of both the American Physical Society and the Microscopy Society of America, and he has been honoured with the Gjønnes Award from the International Union of Crystallography.
